Time is not the only news magazine that has been caught manipulating photos on their front cover. Look at the following example from Newsweek:

Newsweek changed the woman's smile by improving her smile. Notice that her teeth look much worse on the Time cover.

This cover shot from National Geographic is another famous example of digital manipulation. The original photo was a horizontal, but the magazine needed a vertical for their front cover. In order to do this they moved the pyramids over to fall behind the men on camels. The magazine called it "retroactive repositioning of the photographer."
